Assistant Accountant

Essential Functions & Basic Duties:

  • Review, input, and control daily entries and transactions on the system, ensuring all supporting documents are properly classified.
  • Handle and track utility payments to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Assist in processing financial statements according to legal and company accounting guidelines.
  • Aid in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Record and maintain the reconciliation of prepaid and accrued expenses.
  • Assist in reconciling accounts payable and receivable.
  • Record and analyze financial data, such as sales and expenses.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Receive and review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
  • Code and enter invoices into the accounting system.
  • Reconcile company expenses.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate expense recording.

Special Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize industry-specific accounting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, focusing on maintaining accuracy and integrity of accounts.
  • Ability to multitask across different accounting-related projects.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite productivity tools.

Qualification Standards:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Technical skills demonstrating proficiency with technology; ability to utilize software programs, navigate computer systems, and handle typical tech issues.
  • Experience with accounting and financial software and data entry.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role with strong accounting experience.
  • Able to join immediately.
